Part IV: Be reconciled to God

 

John 3: 16 « For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. »

As you may have noticed from the first verse, we are starting again this month with our series of messages about making peace with God. Today, we will talk to people who have not yet accepted Christ as their Savior and Lord.

We don't expect to convince nonbelievers with this text. Instead, we hope it will be a way for the Holy Spirit to touch at least one heart. According to His will, the Holy Spirit Himself will convict hearts. We will simply present the way, the truth, and the life: Jesus (John 14:6). We will present salvation through the work of the cross—the ABCs of evangelism.

John 16: 8 - 9 « When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me»

Because of one man's disobedience, sin entered the world and corrupted that man and all his descendants (you will understand why this word is in bold). Sin separated humanity from God because they lost the perfect nature of the One who created them. This meant that we were all destined to die because, according to God's law, sin results in death. Since God is a righteous judge, He must treat/judge everyone equally. (Isaiah 59:2).

But God, who is also love, has established a law to save humanity. If sin entered the world through one man, causing all of his descendants to suffer, then it must be that, through one man, sin can be removed from the world and the condemnation attached to it be annulled. However, a condemnation can be annulled only by the person who established it or by a higher authority. Since God created everything, and since there has never been, there is not, and there never will be a higher authority than God, He alone is able to annul this condemnation and give us His nature so that we can live forever. And this is where Jesus steps into this plan of redemption, fully embodying both human nature and the nature of God within Himself. His human nature allowed Him to take the place of all humanity by paying the price for all our sins through His death on the cross.  His divine nature gave Him the authority to annul our death condemnation and to give that same nature to humanity so that they might live forever in God's rest.

Colossians 2 : 14-15 « having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross ».

But… yes, there is a “but,” because there is one condition for receiving all of this: you must be born again in Jesus Christ; you must be part of His “offspring.”

Romans 6: 23 « For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[b] Christ Jesus our Lord. »

Today, we’re not trying to scare you or force you to believe in Jesus. We’ve come to offer you the chance to cast off the heavy yoke of sin in exchange for Jesus’ yoke, which is light. We’ve come to offer you the eternal peace that Jesus gives, instead of the turmoil that always follows sin. We’re inviting you to experience life in Jesus, to experience true joy, the kind that comes from knowing Jesus, instead of the superficial joy the world offers. All you have to do is accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Please say this prayer with faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. I confess that you are God and that you died on the cross to save me from sin. Today, I turn away from sin and accept the salvation that only you can provide. I give you my soul, spirit, and body. From now on, I am no longer a slave to my flesh, for I have been redeemed by You, Jesus, and my whole being belongs to You.

 

 

 

Partie IV : Réconcilie-toi avec Dieu

 

Jean 3 : 16 « Oui, Dieu a tant aimé le monde qu’il a donné son Fils, son unique, pour que tous ceux qui placent leur confiance en lui échappent à la perdition et qu’ils aient la vie éternelle. »

 

Pour le mois d’août, comme vous l’avez compris à travers le verset d’introduction, nous reprenons notre série d’exhortations sur la réconciliation avec Dieu. Nous nous adressons aujourd’hui à ceux qui n’ont pas encore accepté le Christ comme Sauveur et Seigneur.

 

Nous n’avons nullement la prétention de convaincre un non-croyant par ce texte. Nous espérons plutôt qu’il deviendra un instrument que le Saint-Esprit utilisera pour toucher au moins un cœur. Le Saint-Esprit se chargera lui-même de convaincre les cœurs selon sa volonté. Nous nous contenterons de présenter le chemin, la vérité et la vie : Jésus (Jean 14 :6). Nous présenterons juste le salut par l’œuvre de la Croix : ABC de l’évangélisation.  

 

Jean 16 : 8 - 9 « Et quand il sera venu, il convaincra le monde en ce qui concerne le péché, la justice, et le jugement : en ce qui concerne le péché, parce qu'ils ne croient pas en moi »

 

À cause de la désobéissance d’un homme, le péché est entré dans le monde et a corrompu la nature de celui-ci et de toute sa descendance (vous comprendrez pourquoi ce mot est en gras). Le péché a donc séparé les hommes de Dieu car ils ne portaient plus la nature parfaite de Celui qui les avait créés. Et cela nous a tous condamnés à la mort ; car suivant la loi de Dieu, le salaire du péché est la mort. Dieu étant juste, Il ne peut qu’appliquer la même loi à tous, sans aucune exception. (Ésaïe 59 :2).

 

Mais Dieu, étant également amour, a, parallèlement, établi une loi pour la rédemption de l’humanité. En effet, si par un homme le péché est entré dans le monde, entraînant toute sa descendance avec lui à la perdition, il faut donc que, par un homme, le péché soit enlevé du monde et que la condamnation qui lui est attachée soit annulée. Or, une condamnation ne peut être annulée que par celui qui l’a établie ou par une entité supérieure. Étant donné que c’est Dieu qui l’a établie, et qu’il n’y avait pas, il n’y a pas et il n’y aura jamais une entité au-dessus de Lui, Il est donc le seul à pouvoir annuler cette condamnation et nous redonner sa nature pour vivre éternellement. Et c’est là que Jésus intervient dans ce plan de rédemption, portant totalement la nature humaine et la nature de Dieu en Lui. Sa nature d’homme Lui a permis de prendre la place de tous les hommes légitimement en payant le prix de tous nos péchés par la mort sur la croix.  Sa nature de Dieu Lui a donné le pouvoir d’annuler la condamnation à la mort, de transmettre cette même nature aux hommes afin qu’ils vivent éternellement dans le repos de Dieu.

 

Colossiens 2 : 14-15 « Car il a annulé l’acte qui établissait nos manquements à l’égard des commandements. Oui, il l’a effacé, le clouant sur la croix. Là, il a désarmé toute Autorité, tout Pouvoir, les donnant publiquement en spectacle quand il les a traînés dans son cortège triomphal après sa victoire à la croix

 

Mais…oui, il y a un mais, car il y a une condition pour bénéficier de tout cela : il faut naître de nouveau en Jésus-Christ, il faut faire partie de sa « descendance ».

 

Romains 6 : 23 « Car le salaire que verse le péché, c’est la mort, mais le don de la grâce que Dieu accorde, c’est la vie éternelle dans l’union avec Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur. »

 

Aujourd’hui, nous n’essayons pas de te faire peur ou de te forcer à croire en Jésus. Nous venons t’offrir de te décharger du joug lourd du péché en échange de celui de Jésus qui, lui, est léger. Nous venons te proposer la paix éternelle que donne Jésus à la place de la tourmente qui suit toujours le péché. Nous venons te proposer d’expérimenter la vie en Jésus à la place de cette joie superficielle qu’offre le monde. Il te suffit juste d’accepter Jésus comme Seigneur et Sauveur.

 

Répète cette prière avec foi : Seigneur Jésus-Christ, je t’accepte comme Seigneur et Sauveur. Je confesse que tu es Dieu et que tu as été crucifié pour me délivrer du péché. Je renonce aujourd’hui au péché et j’accepte le salut que Toi seul donnes. Je te remets mon âme, mon esprit et mon corps. Désormais, je ne suis plus esclave de ma chair car j’ai été racheté par Toi, Jésus, et tout mon être t’appartient.

 

 

 

Le vrai adorateur

 

Jean 4 : 23 « Mais l’heure vient, et elle est déjà là, où les vrais adorateurs adoreront le Père par l’Esprit et en vérité ; car le Père recherche des hommes qui l’adorent ainsi. »

Pour ce mois-ci, nous faisons une brève pause dans notre série d’exhortations sur la réconciliation avec Dieu pour aborder un thème tout aussi important : l’adoration ; ce pour quoi nous avons été créés.

Ésaïe 43 : 7 « oui, tous ceux qui portent mon nom et que j’ai créés pour ma gloire, que j’ai formés, oui, que j’ai faits ! »

En effet, nous n’avons pas été créés pour souffrir et nous lamenter devant Dieu, mais pour Le glorifier en tout temps. Cela nous est révélé tant dans l’Ancien que dans le Nouveau Testament : nos adorations sincères attirent son Esprit. Et nous ne pouvons vivre la manifestation de Sa présence que tant que nous demeurons dans une attitude d’adoration constante. L’adoration qui déclenche la manifestation de la présence de Dieu, qui change l’atmosphère et par laquelle des miracles se produisent sans intercessions de notre part, est celle qui est faite par l’Esprit et en vérité. C’est le genre de manifestation que Paul et les autres apôtres ont vécue, car ils adoraient notre Seigneur par l’Esprit et en vérité.

Actes 19 : 11-12 « Dieu faisait des miracles extraordinaires par les mains de Paul. On allait jusqu’à prendre des mouchoirs ou du linge qu’il avait touchés pour les appliquer aux malades. Ceux-ci guérissaient et les mauvais esprits s’enfuyaient. »

Aujourd’hui, quoique notre Dieu n’ait pas changé, nous nous posons cette question : pourquoi tous les chrétiens n’expérimentent pas ce genre de vie de miracles et de prodiges de manière continue ? Pourquoi ces types de manifestations surnaturelles, ne se produisent pas partout où nous passons et ce, quotidiennement ? La réponse réside uniquement dans la manière dont nous adorons Dieu. Car,Il agrée uniquement celle qui est faite par l’Esprit et en vérité. Ces deux niveaux sont indissociables : l’un ne peut exister sans l’autre.  Par ce texte, nous allons tenter d’établir l’importance de ces deux « niveaux » dans l’adoration. Et vous allez comprendre pourquoi et comment le surnaturel devint le « naturel » de Pierre, Paul et des autres apôtres.

A.     Adorer Dieu par l’Esprit

Adorer Dieu par l’Esprit ne se résume pas à des paroles et des danses, mais c’est plutôt une attitude de révérence totale de notre cœur et de notre esprit. Nos yeux, notre âme et notre esprit admirent un seul être, Dieu. Les danses, les chants, les paroles de louanges et les gestes de prosternation (s’agenouiller, se coucher au sol, etc.) ne sont que l’expression physique de cet état de révérence spirituelle totale qui ne dépend ni de l’espace, ni des circonstances, ni du ‘mood’, ni des chants, ni des instruments.

Quand tout notre être adore ainsi notre Seigneur, en parfaite harmonie, nous entrons en parfaite communion avec l’Esprit de Dieu ; et Sa gloire ne peut que se manifester. Actes 16 : 25-26 « Vers le milieu de la nuit, Paul et Silas priaient et chantaient les louanges de Dieu. Les autres prisonniers les écoutaient. Tout à coup, un violent tremblement de terre secoua la prison jusque dans ses fondations. Toutes les portes s’ouvrirent à l’instant même et les chaînes de tous les prisonniers se détachèrent. »

B.     Adorer Dieu en vérité

Ce niveau d’adoration fait référence à notre manière de vivre. Car quand on adore quelqu’un, on fait tout pour lui plaire et lui ressembler. Le vrai adorateur est donc celui qui essaie de toutes ses forces et en tout temps de plaire et ressembler à Jésus. Celui qui a réellement accepté Jésus comme Seigneur et Sauveur, accepte de ne plus vivre selon sa chair, mais selon la volonté de Celui qu’il appelle désormais Maître et qui est devenu son seul et unique modèle. Comme le dit souvent l’apôtre Éric Kaloyi : à quoi sert-il de pleurer d’émotions, de danser, d’utiliser les plus beaux mots du dictionnaire tous les dimanches durant l’adoration, si nous n’avons pas d’amour dans notre cœur pour les autres, alors que Dieu est Amour ? Le vrai adorateur se démarque par sa sagesse, son amour désintéressé pour les autres, sa tempérance, son humilité, sa patience et la constance de sa marche avec Dieu.

Adorer Dieu en vérité consiste donc à abandonner son identité afin de revêtir celle du Christ et, ainsi, parvenir à faire des miracles et des prodiges par la puissance du Saint-Esprit, comme Il en a fait et continue d’en faire.

Galates 2 : 20 « Ce n’est plus moi qui vis, c’est Christ qui vit en moi. Ma vie en tant qu’homme, je la vis maintenant dans la foi au Fils de Dieu qui, par amour pour moi, s’est livré à la mort à ma place. »

The True Worshiper

 

John 4: 23 « Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. »

This month, we're taking a brief break from our series on reconciliation with God to discuss another important topic: worship, the reason for our existence.

Isaiah 43: 7 « everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made»

Indeed, we were not created to suffer and lament before God; rather, we were created to glorify Him at all times. Both the Old and New Testaments reveal this to us: our sincere worship draws His Spirit. We can only experience the manifestation of His presence as long as we remain in a posture of constant worship. Worship that triggers the manifestation of God’s presence, which transforms the atmosphere and through which miracles occur without our intercession, is offered in the Spirit and in truth. Paul and the other apostles experienced this kind of manifestation because they worshiped our Lord in the Spirit and in truth.

Acts 19: 11-12 « God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured, and the evil spirits left them. »

Even though God has not changed, we often wonder: Why don't all Christians experience a life filled with ongoing miracles and wonders? Why don't these kinds of supernatural manifestations occur everywhere we go, day after day? The answer lies solely in the way we worship God. He accepts worship only when it is offered through the Spirit and in truth. These two aspects are inseparable; one cannot exist without the other. In this text, we will explore the importance of these two aspects in worship. You will also understand how and why the supernatural became the "natural" for Peter, Paul, and the other apostles.

A.     Worshipping God in the Spirit 

Worshipping God in the Spirit is not limited to words and dancing. Rather, it is an attitude of total reverence from the heart and mind. Our eyes, souls, and minds are focused on one Being: God. Dances, songs, words of praise, and acts of worship, such as kneeling or prostrating oneself on the ground, are merely physical expressions of this state of total spiritual reverence. This state depends neither on space nor on circumstances, mood, songs, nor instruments.

When we worship our Lord in this way with our whole being, in perfect harmony, we enter into perfect communion with the Spirit of God, and his glory is revealed.

Acts 16: 25-26 « About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. »

 

B.     Worshiping God in Truth 

This level of worship refers to how we live our lives. When we worship someone, we try to please and emulate them. Therefore, a true worshiper is someone who always strives to please Jesus and be like him. Those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour agree to no longer live according to their own desires, but rather according to the will of their new Master, who has become their one and only role model. As the apostle Éric Kaloyi often says: "What good is it to weep with emotion, dance, or use the most beautiful words in the dictionary every Sunday during worship if we have no love for others in our hearts, knowing that God is love?"

A true worshiper is distinguished by his wisdom, selfless love for others, self-control, humility, patience, and steadfastness in his walk with God.

Therefore, to worship God in truth is to lay aside one’s own identity to take on that of Christ and, in this way, to be able to perform miracles and wonders through the power of the Holy Spirit, just as He has done and continues to do.

Galatians 2: 20 « I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. »

Part III: Be reconciled to God

 

Matthew 7 :  22-23 « Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness ! »

Matthew 13 : 30 « Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn. »

1 Samuel 16 : 7 « But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. »

The third exhortation on this topic, which we have been discussing since May, is about people who are physically present in church, yet their hearts have strayed from the Lord. They are Christians in name only. They live a Christian life in public, but in their hearts, they reject the Word of God and are no longer sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 29: 13 « Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men. »

Several things can damage our relationship with God and even lead Him to withdraw His Spirit from our lives completely.

A.     False teachings spread through false doctrines (Revelation 2:14–15; 1 Timothy 1:3–7). Many have been led astray by doctrines that promote practices and teachings contrary to God’s word. These doctrines seem logical, just as when the devil deceived Eve and led her into disobedience or when he used Bible verses to tempt Jesus.  However, these teachings are nothing but lies. All Christians are advised to exercise caution and test the teachings they receive against Scripture. They should also be selective about what they listen to and watch.

 

B.     Bad Influences (1 Corinthians 15:33; Proverbs 13:20): There is no better way to explain the effects of bad influences than with the words of 1 Corinthians 15:33 " Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits." The effectiveness of bad influences depends on our desire to conform to the world to be accepted by others. However, the Bible clearly tells us that we are the salt of the earth, not the other way around. It is not up to the world to dictate our behavior, but rather up to us, guided by the Word of God, to influence it.

 

C.    A lack of meditation on God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16–17):  In order to live according to God’s will, we must know it. To know it, we must meditate on His Word. Otherwise, our lives are guided by the standards of our social environment, religion, or sect, and we are certainly not following in the footsteps of Jesus.

 

D.     A lack of communion with the Holy Spirit (John 14:26; 16:8): We are not righteous or good by our own strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit teaches us, helps us understand God’s Word as we meditate on it, convicts us, and gives us the strength to resist temptation. Therefore, failing to be in communion with the Holy Spirit leaves us vulnerable to harmful influences.

 

This text calls on those who have strayed to return to God by renewing their good habits through meditation, sincere prayer, and communion with the Holy Spirit. Let us choose to please God rather than people. Let us live an authentic life according to His Word and seek His approval rather than that of others.

 

2 Corinthians 5:  18-19 « Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation»

 

Partie III : Réconcilie-toi avec Dieu

 

Matthieu 7 :  22-23 « Au jour du jugement, nombreux sont ceux qui me diront : « Seigneur ! Seigneur ! Nous avons prophétisé en ton nom, nous avons chassé des démons en ton nom, nous avons fait beaucoup de miracles en ton nom. »  Je leur déclarerai alors : « Je ne vous ai jamais connus ! Allez-vous-en, vous qui pratiquez le mal ! »

Matthieu 13 : 30 « Laissez pousser les deux ensemble jusqu’à la moisson. À ce moment-là, je dirai aux moissonneurs : « Enlevez d’abord la mauvaise herbe et liez-la en bottes pour la brûler : ensuite vous couperez le blé et vous le rentrerez dans mon grenier. »

1 Samuel 16 : 7 « Mais l’Éternel lui dit : Ne te laisse pas impressionner par son apparence physique et sa taille imposante, car ce n’est pas lui que j’ai choisi. Je ne juge pas de la même manière que les hommes. L’homme ne voit que ce qui frappe les yeux, mais l’Éternel regarde au cœur. »

La troisième exhortation sur ce thème que nous abordons depuis le mois de mai concerne ceux qui sont physiquement à l’église mais dont l’esprit s’est éloigné du Seigneur…ceux-là qui ne sont chrétiens que de nom. Ils mènent une vie chrétienne en public, mais leurs cœurs renient la parole de Dieu et ne sont plus sensibles au Saint-Esprit.

Ésaïe 29 : 13 « Le Seigneur dit encore : Ce peuple se tourne vers moi, mais ce n’est qu’en paroles, et il me rend hommage, mais c’est du bout des lèvres : car au fond de son cœur, il est bien loin de moi, et la crainte qu’il a de moi n’est faite que de règles que des hommes lui ont enseignées. »

Plusieurs choses peuvent altérer notre relation avec Dieu, et même entraîner un retrait total de son Esprit dans notre vie :

A.     Les faux enseignements véhiculés à travers de fausses doctrines (Révélation 2 : 14-15 ; 1 Timothée 1 : 3-7) : plusieurs ont été séduits par des doctrines qui propagent des pratiques et enseignements qui sont contraires à la parole de Dieu. Ils semblent logiques comme quand le diable a séduit Ève et l’a conduite à la désobéissance ou quand il a utilisé des versets bibliques pour tenter même Jésus.  Mais ils ne sont que mensonges. Il est recommandé à tous les chrétiens de faire preuve de prudence, de juger les enseignements qu’ils reçoivent par les Écritures et d’être particulièrement sélectifs par rapport à ce qu’ils écoutent et regardent.

 

B.     Les mauvaises influences (1 Corinthiens 15 : 33 ; Proverbes 13 : 20) : nous ne saurions mieux expliquer les effets des mauvaises influences que « 1 Corinthiens 15 :  Attention, ne vous y trompez pas : Les mauvaises compagnies corrompent les bonnes mœurs ». L’efficacité des mauvaises influences repose entièrement sur l’intensité du désir de s’assimiler au monde afin de se faire accepter des autres. Or la Bible nous dit clairement que nous sommes le sel du monde ; ce n’est point l’inverse. Ce n’est pas au monde de nous dicter notre comportement, mais c’est à nous, guidés par la Parole de Dieu, de l’influencer.

 

 

C.    Le manque de méditation de la parole de Dieu (2 Timothée 3 : 16-17) :  pour vivre selon la volonté de Dieu, il faut la connaître et pour la connaître il faut méditer Sa Parole. Si nous ne méditons pas, notre vie est guidée par les standards de notre milieu, d’une religion, d’une secte, etc…et, certainement, nous ne suivons pas les pas de Jésus

 

D.     Le manque de communion avec le Saint-Esprit (Jean 14 : 26 ; Jean 16 : 8) : Nous ne sommes pas justes/bons par notre force mais par celle du Saint-Esprit qui nous enseigne, nous aide à comprendre la Parole de Dieu quand nous méditons, nous convainc et nous donne la force de résister aux tentations. Donc, ne pas être en communion avec le Saint-Esprit, c’est laisser le champ libre aux influences néfastes d’autres entités.

 

Ce texte est un appel à tous ceux qui se sont égarés, à revenir à Dieu en renouant avec les bonnes habitudes par la méditation, des temps de prière sincères et la communion avec le Saint-Esprit. Choisissons de plaire à Dieu plutôt qu’aux hommes, de mener une vie authentique aux yeux de Dieu selon sa Parole, d’avoir son approbation plutôt que celle des hommes.

 

2 Corinthiens 5 :  17-18 « Ainsi, si quelqu’un est uni à Christ, il appartient à une nouvelle création : les choses anciennes sont passées : voici, les choses nouvelles sont venues. Tout cela est l’œuvre de Dieu, qui nous a réconciliés avec lui par Christ et qui nous a confié le ministère de la réconciliation »

Part II : Be reconciled to God

 

Hebrews 10:  35-38 « So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay. And, “But my righteous[g] one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back. »

Isaiah 55 : 11 « so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. »

Habakkuk 2: 3 « For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. »

Today’s message is a continuation of the text published at the end of April. As promised, we will address four different groups through this theme.

This message is for those who have been waiting a long time for a promise from God to be fulfilled. Discouraged by the delay, they have abandoned their relationship with God, believing that He has forgotten them.

Indeed, all (or nearly all) Christians have experienced a period of waiting that dragged on to the point where doubt gradually took root in their hearts; this led some to lose faith in God and turn away from Him entirely. During this time, they certainly saw their brothers and sisters receive their blessings without delay and, perhaps, easily, without long periods of fasting and prayer. Surely, they asked themselves questions such as: Is God punishing me? Why them and not me? When will my turn come? Will my turn ever come? Does God still remember me? And likely, they felt jealousy and frustration. All of this is normal, for we are made of flesh. However, it becomes problematic when we no longer repent of these things because we have justified them. Thus, these doubts and feelings are fed to the point that they take root in our hearts and guide our decisions. We therefore no longer listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, who comforts and edifies us; instead, we embrace the devil’s lies, just as Eve did. We give in to pride by being jealous of others; we think we deserve what they have. And because of our impatience—since we believe God’s promise is owed to us—we fail to see it as a gift of grace. The Bible clearly tells us that God resists the proud.

James 4: 6 « But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.»

To all brothers and sisters who have gone through this kind of trial or are currently going through it and who have turned away from God, we want you to know that it is not too late to repent, turn back, and return to God. Indeed, as soon as we sincerely repent (Proverbs 28:13), He is ready to forgive repeatedly (2 Chronicles 7). And the Bible also tells us that beyond the forgiveness He grants to those who acknowledge their faults, He forgets them and restores their lives (Micah 7:18).  For God does not hold grudges as we do; He does not love as we do; and above all, He knows and understands the challenges we face in our human journey—having Himself walked that path when He chose to redeem us.

We want to remind you, through this text, that God is faithful to His word; He watches over His word (Jeremiah 1:12); He cares for it because all creation rests on His word. As illogical as what He has promised may seem, simply trust Him and you will see its fulfillment, for nothing—absolutely nothing—is impossible for Him.
